Grant Writing

Touching hearts, one paw at a time!

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity, M.A.M.A.S. strives to make every cent count, and promises to always put the the health and well being of the dogs in our care at the very top of the list of priorities. The only guaranteed funding we have is $32K from our county.  With annual expenses of over $300,000, the money from the county is only a small portion of what we need to continue our life saving operation.

We do not turn our backs on the broken dogs who come to us.  At M.A.M.A.S. we feel it is our job to give these poor souls a second chance to experience health and happiness.  A typical year will consist of several orthopedic surgeries, several ligament repair surgeries, hundreds of spays and neuters, hospital stays for the sick and injured and around 70 heartworm treatments.  Add to that the basic vetting and additional medical care needed for various skin infections, mange, fleas, and starving dogs, and it is easy to see how the financial need is great.

And don't forget - we are not foster based.  We have an actual facility to maintain, and a staff of caretakers and office workers to pay, as well as insurance, utility and vehicle expenses.  We try our best to send every dogs who leaves us in tip top condition, so that those on the other end will not bear that expense, but that results in a lot of reponsibility falling on the shoulders of a little rural shelter in a low income southern county.

Needless to say, fundraising of all kinds is very important.  We need volunteers to use their imagination and implement their fundraising ideas for the shelter, initiate donation campaigns and assist in grant writing.  We know there are those out there who are willing to help us with our mission - we just need to find them!  And we need YOUR help in doing so.  If you would like to be part of this all important piece of the puzzle that comes together to allow M.A.M.A.S. to thrive, please reach out to us!
