Melissa started volunteering for M.A.M.A.S. shelter in 2015, after adopting her very own South Carolina brown dog, Ernie from the shelter. She began by driving pup passengers on the M.A.M.A.S. on the Move transport and soon after, began coordinating the Virginia legs for the bimonthly transports. When the call came to become an adoption coordinator Melissa raised her hand to volunteer. She truly enjoys matching families to their new pup and seeing their happy new beginnings. She has recently become the Foster Coordinator for M.A.M.A.S. in the Northern VA/Maryland area. Melissa became a Board member in 2020 and tries to visit M.A.M.A.S. shelter 3-4 times a year and absolutely loves seeing where it all begins and the positive difference each volunteer is able to make.
